Greetings,

I have downloaded and installed your great joomulus module, but when clicking on any of the links it has created it displays the search page with the name of the menu item highlighted as the search word.

Is there anyway to make it display links from the main menu and have it open the page with the selected link?

So you wish to use it just as a menu? That's doable but not currently what it's intended for.
Joomulus pulls words for the content of your site articles.

Easy. use the hand coded links option

see www.marty.com.au for an example. I tell it to go to specific webpages, articles etc...

(you cant do both 'auto generated' and 'hand coded' links at the same time though)
