hi

installed latest version and working absolutely fine, but for the presence of two characters that look like two accented "Y"s.

looks like they're hidden characters, but i don't seem to be able to spot where they are hidden.

my admin settings are the default, with the module title switched off.

...no one seems to have had the problem here though...

any idea where to look for it?

sorry, i can't link you to the site, but here's a snapshot of the module with the characters showing.



this is the only module where it appears, so i don't think it's down to joomla's handling of modules.
the only way i've found so far is to use css to colour white the text, but with that fading gradient it'd show up the same...

If you have FTP access you could examine mod_joomulus.xml in the modules/mod_joomulus/ directory - look for anything weird in the entries there.

i've checked mod_joomulus.xml as you suggested, i couldn't see anything weird, i only removed some whitespaces between tags - no luck, it wasn't there...

the thing with this character is that it's invisible, i've gt a "zap gremlins" function in my BBEdit, but even that cannot find it.

i did run that function on mod_joomulus.php and on swfobject.js too, with no luck.

it must be something copied and pasted in the code, i thought i could find it where the <object> tag is generated, but i can't find a way to get the bastards!

Did you download the xml file from the server though?

i edited the live xml, yes.

I really want to take a look at this - can you give me access via email? FTP and admin temporarily.

Looks normal, It must then be something to do with your Joomla installation/server - what language are you using as default?

2 points though: there's no word that has accented characters in those inserted in joomulus admin, and no other modules installed have a similar problem.
must be my luck then...

Hi, I'm glad I'm not the first one who is reporting this issue. My Joomla installation is in english. I also use the latest version of Joomulus, downloaded few days ago. I have few different modules on the right side of the site. The modules title bar which is <h3> have grey background and I noticed that the distance between the actual module and this title bar is different in case of Joomulus. This happens on all browsers I use: FF, IE and Chrome.

I have turned off SWF object in Admin panel to make troubleshooting easier but this characters are there in two scenarios - with or without flash embedded.

On attached screenshots you can see look of the website and then code in Chrome, FF and IE.

I had some problems with uploading images....

Firstly I have to state support for Joomulus is limited - because my colleague developed it as a fre extensions and he is currently unavailable to comment.

RE: your strange character issue - can you link me to the site?

Also have you tried removing whatever tag you entered that has strange characters, and then typing it back in. Copy paste should not be used if their are issues - for example; copying a quote ' or " from MS Word will often create a character that is not HTML compatible.
