Inconsistencies in Mozilla and IE !! 3 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 2
Hi guys,

Am now on my third attempt at completing my website - am still using your beautiful template transparency bliss. Unfortunately I am having a problem with lining up both IE and Mozilla to function in the way that they should. Funnily enough initially it was all problems with IE but now the problems are with Mozilla. I have added a small table with information - as a banner - in 'user 3' which sits at the bottom on the third column along with an Amazon banner (which I had to alter to fit). Both fit perfectly on IE but in Mozilla it has extended the table over the column and cut down the Amazon banner and elongated it - help any ideas how I can sort this, here is the link
look forward to hearing from you

Re:Inconsistencies in Mozilla and IE !! (SOLVED) 3 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 2
Hi again guys,

Solved this one!!

Went into CSS and changed the Bottom Module from

#BottomModule {
width: 468px;
margin-right: auto;
margin-left: auto;
}

to

#BottomModule {
width: 560px;
margin-right: auto;
margin-left: auto;
}

I am presuming that because you 'center' things for IE within the CSS that it did it automatically whereas Mozilla relies totally on what is written in the CSS - as I had not allowed the width necessary for the table and banner in the CSS and had only altered it under the html for the banners, it did not fit.

Works perfectly now!
Hope this helps anyone else with the same problems.

Hi and glad you solved this - correct about the IE6 centering.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, it's been a hectic week!

Hi Big Bear,

Thanks for getting back to me - thought I had it all sorted but here is another inconsistency and I am really at a loss to sort it - your suggestions would be gratefully received.

I have altered Simplestforum to fit in the centre column of Transparency Bliss and have had to change the font size as it was way too big in IE. Have now go the perfect size in IE only to find that in Mozilla it is now way too small. Have a look
here
and you can see what I mean. Still need to change the size in the initial page for the forum but am now a little worried about how it will look in Mozilla.

As I said help would be appreciated.
thanks

IE really annoys me how it doesn't pick up on font sizes. I get it all the time. As any normal style sheet goes a default size is declared in one of the first statements on the body tag. I useally like body {font-size: 12px;}. But IE requires specific font sizes applied to each element.

I can see what you mean, the font size is way to small in mozilla. I think the font-size: 75%; will have something to do with it. Try a specific size like 12px for the font size.

Hi Bambi,

Thank you so much - you were right and it is working perfectly on IE and Mozilla now using px instead of %.

Another one solved.

Thanks again

Hi Big Bear,

Thanks for that. You are not going to believe this but I have yet another little problem that I am hoping you can help me with. I have installed Remository - really cool component for my downloads but something rather strange is happening and I am not sure whether it has anything to do with the template. Firstly, on the actual downloads (this is in the registered user area)page it looks perfect in IE but in Mozilla the top slice of the centre column is sitting a little to the right and with a gap between it and the actual column underneath. It works perfectly regarding downloads but looks bad! On the other hand IE looks perfect but for some unknown reason will not let me download from the page - it will not even allow me to click on the downloads button or the title of the file. All other links on the page work as they should. Please take a look with this log in info Something is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.and let me know what you think.
Your thoughts and wisdom on this will be gratefully received.

Oh and I have in the meantime also put up a question on the forum at Remository just in case.

thanks

I think it might be the remository css conflicting.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing this:

#remositorypathway img, #remositorycontainer img, #remositoryfilelisting div img,
#left img, #right img, #remositorycontainerlist img, #remositorypageheading h2 img,
#remositorypageheading h3 img, #remository h4 img {
border: 0;
padding: 2px;
}

Try giving that a padding 0px

Hi Big Bear,

You are a STAR - good guesswork - I would never have seen it - it worked, now Mozilla looks as good as IE. Thank you so much.

Did you have any ideas with the other part - not being able to download the files in IE??

thanks again

Hi Power4life,

first of all sorry for my bad english.

I am also working with this template and when I saw your site it was nice to see, that it works in all the browsers. After working on the problem with the right menu down on the site, I am now a little tired.

Maybe you can help me by sending your css-files to my email-acoount. Ths would be great because as I can see, You solved the problem.

Many thanks for your help in advance, pls send files to Something is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it.

Best regards

Peter

Hi Peter,

I am sending you the CSS file to your email but I also wanted to say to you and anyone else having trouble with this template that it has more to do with the CSS files of the extensions you are adding than the CSS of the template. Because the template is specific in its size then you need to adapt all extensions to fit in - if they are too wide then they make the third column drop down, I have just had it happen to me when adding Remository as it did with almost all of the extensions I added - you will need to look into the files and adjust the sizes remembering as Bambi told me that IE does not respond kindly to font sizes in % it is best to use pixel sizes i.e. if it is 80% then try 12px as the font size - this happened when I added Simplest forum.

Good luck and let me know if you have any more problems, I might be able to help.

Hi Blackbear!

I'm having such a good time trying to figure out how to get the main menu to display properly on my website as it does on your DEMO for 1.0x for BlackBearPro which BTW is awesome!

It looks fine using Firefox, but IE is another story. Any tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
