Polar bear WITHIN black bear? 4 Years, 7 Months ago Karma: 1
I like the black/blue of the BlackBear template.
However, on content pages where there is alot of text, I'd like to be able to switch to a black (text) on white (background) - like the polar bear.

In fact, it'd be neat to be able to use the BlackBear's colors for the frontpage, and gallery and such, but switch to the PolarBear's colors for reading long pages of news items, etc.

Is there an easy way to do that?
Thanks,
newb

Hi
You can do this by uploading BOTH templates to your site and then applying the different themes to various pages - let us know how you get on.

go to your joomla admin. And locate the area where you assign a template as 'default' (site -> template manager -> site templates) here you will see a list of available templates to use. You will see a green tick indicating which template is default. You should see the title for each column "name" "default" "assigned" "author" "version" "date" "author url".

Click the little radio button just to the left of the template name you wish to assign to a page. Once selected you have the options above to the top right "default" "assign" "delete" ... etc. Select a template and then select assign. From here you'll see a list of menu items that are on your site. Select all the menu items you want to assign the template to and save.

Hope that helps.

Post edited by: Bambi, at: 2007/12/11 07:52

I always thought assign would be how you 'assign a template' by default or something. I never even knew it brought up that submenu where you could assign it to specific menu items! oh man, thanks!!!
that's cooool.

Yeah it took me a while to find out how to do also. Joomla's like that, you have to play around with it heaps until find out how to configure every little detail.
