This is probably an easy answer, but I'm stuck scratching my head...

How do I assign Transparent bliss 2 to be default page for my site? It says that template can not be assigned, even when I set the parameter.ini to writeable....

You should just select it and make it "default" rather than assigning - assign a template when you want to use more than one template on your site.
