The original BlackBear has some documentation:
blackbear.joomlabear.com/

The module positions for 1.5 are here:
joomlabear.com/Joomla-Templates/1.5-Templates/ BlackBearPro.html

I would use one of the header slide show extensions from www.joomlaworks.gr/ scroll down for the free ones...

better docs are coming - I am rebuilding joomlabear at present.

If there was I would have mentioned it... It is enough work just making templates to give away for free... If you document your setup process with video and send it to me I will happily add it to the site. It's a team effort.

Matvs,
I'm not saying a video tutorial isn't a great idea - I am somewhat overwhelmed with work at present though and there is no way I can work on this.
Possibly in the not to distant future.

Hi esteve - you managed to copy a / after the link, perhaps that is why it isn't directing you. I control-clicked (pc) on the link he gives to open in a new page.

HEY BIG BEAR!

do we need menu module class suffix's or menu-class suffix's ??? They are installing in the default joomla/virtue mart installation, maybe?

I'm trying your free black bear to see if I like the template - I'll try to document a bit, how would you want me to send info to you?

a.c.

I may have spoken too soon! I went from flying to zero and have no idea what I did wrong! :( toying with modules - first page of virtue mart and joomla (latest) installations 1.5.9 and vm 1.1.2 my right column is sort of there visually, but all the content jumped into the middle. I was looking at the default stuff in modules with the installation, to my knowledge didn't change them.

Hi,

In the following link: http://blackbearpro15.joomlabear.com/index.php? option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=55

How do I insert a new logo in the position where the "Black Bear" logo is in the link above?

Also, how do I position the "top menu" to the left as in the link above (next to the search bar)... It seems to want to stay on the right in the "topnav"

Is there any documentation for this template? I apologize for any inconvenience... please help!

my site:
http://lighthouseadgroup.com/

Thanks in advance,
Steve

I'm not a bear, I'm sure they will answer when they get a chance, but you look stressed so this is how far I've gotten:

I think you'll have to incorporate your logo over their blank image - if you open the template folder and the images folder "head.png" file I put my logo in a layer and merged the graphic file and resaved it in its location.

My top nav comes up in the right hand position too, but I like it, its a nice change. don't know how to change that, but don't plan to either.

I had to use the legacy vertical and legacy horizontal menu settings to get the images to show up, otherwise it didn't look good.

that's about all I know so far.

here are the module positions if you didn't see that:

Module positions available are:

Top-Nav - Publish your top menu here
Search - Publish search module here
Feature - Publish a slideshow component here - width is 966px - height is flexible

Left - Publish anything you want here, e.g. main menu, who's online, polls, etc

Right - Publish anything you want here, e.g. main menu, who's online, polls, etc

Footer - Publish your copyright info here

If you figure out any good stuff, perhaps you'll post it too?

Angelina many thanks for your help.

eSteve - I don't want to come across as grumpy in any way - I realise it would be better to have a nice, clearly labeled, documentation page with video tutorials, etc, etc and I will work towards this, I promise.

But, it never fails to amaze me that people don't seem to read the pages I send them to...

Halfway down this page blackbear.joomlabear.com/ you will find:

Adding your logo - Our suggested method

The theme comes with a single 2KB png file called head.png - this is the top slice of the layout. Open this in your favourite image editor, I use Fireworks, Import your logo into this image (File>Import in Fireworks, File>Place in Photoshop) position it the way you want it and export the image back into your Template>images folder. Alternatively you could add a Div to index.php and place an image in the template but it will only add another file to the theme and increase server load - you'd also have to make your logo with a transparent background and really the simplest and best way is to follow our first suggestion.
