Still trying to work out why I can't get my site to accept the sh404SEF script to allow me to enable Search Engine Friendly URLs to work.

I have asked my hosting provider to check into this and they couldn't find anything, although you might note this. When I originally set up my site I worked on it in a sub-directory. When completed, I moved it up into the active directory. I noticed that the path listed in the System and Server section listed this path, so I updated it. It still does not work properly.

Any ideas?

Good thinking on your directory move. you could be on to something there.
Usign FTP grab your configuration.php from site root - the paths you mentioned in Global Config are taken from configuration.php and you should also double check your cache path here as well.
