Site looks great!

Which text do you want to change? Left column username and password seem to be the smallest?

Thanx man, i really try to make this worthseeing. It`s good that i`ve finished what was most important to do , because now i`ve started college. Now there are few retouches and the content. Thx for the support, but i`ve found out that you can even download fonts from the internet and use them whereever u want. I didn`t knew that you have to use the presets for fonts from joomla to make it look better. However, i would like to change the fonts from the login form and the whole left column, yes. That would be helpful, i guesss that`s a code you have to put in.

Thx for the great support. You rock :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hey Dude,
I'll post a quick note on website fonts shortly - the main thing to keep in mind is that the font needs to be installed on the computer of the person who is viewing your website for it to display properly - many of the really cool fonts available on sites like dafont.com won't work for most usuers unless they have also installed the font - there is a workaround called SIFR and if you search Joomla extensions you'll find something available for it. I'll post more as soon as I get a moment.

Have also put this up:
joomlabear.com/Design-Resources/Joomla-C...-used- in-Joomla.html
Which is a list of all the CSS styles Joomla generates - if your working from one of our themes then you'll probably find most of those are already in the CSS file so may not be to much use to you.

Verdana Is a popular web safe font to use. More so than Tahoma, which isn't as widely supported. A new one released on Windows is Trebuchet MS (another sans serif font).
Fonts that are easy to read on screen are sans serif rather than serif fonts (serif = little elaborate things on the letters). Sans is the French word for without so fonts to use safely on the web are the ones 'without all fancy stuff' (sans serif).
It took me ages to realize why I couldn't just use any font  But when you think of it I wonder why no browser hasn't developed the function of embedding a font. They'd add 100kb to 180kb next to nothing. any way, hope that helps.<br><br>Post edited by: Bambi, at: 2007/09/11 01:16

Hi peeps!

There is a little something that nobody has written so far, which I consider to be very important: readability.

This is something you learn when you have written many pretty long documents and have had to read those of others. A font can look cool or just plain attractive, but quite often these fonts are very uncomfortable when someone has to read a fair bit of text. You don't have to read all that much text to notice this affect. Even a few paragraphs as in this thread can be enough to notice there is something wrong.

There is a tendency today to use sans serif fonts mainly because the ones with serifs are considered ugly (for what reason I don't know) or too old-fashioned. If you have to read a lot of text with a sans serif font, you will notice yourself &quot;slipping out of the lines&quot; or just needing more concentration to read than you would expect. Reading can become tiring instead of relaxing.

I'm not saying there is no room for artistic fonts or that looks don't matter. But please remember that somebody actually has to read the stuff you write - and let him or her do it with pleasure. ;)

Chris

Hi ya!
Last I herd sans serif fonts were more desirable for web for the sole purpose of readability. Serif fonts were more appropriate for print media. Most major sites use sans serif for good reason.

This is a really interesting issue Chris.

And thanks for your input Bambi

Most people generally agree that Sans Serif is easier to read on screen while Serif fonts are far easier to read in print. Pick up any book and you'll almost always find something close to Times.

I quote from WikiPedia:
&quot;Sans-serif fonts have become the de facto standard for body text on-screen, especially online. It has been suggested that this is because the small size of the font causes excess clutter on the screen&quot;
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sans-serif

This seems to be supported by very large sites like Digg.com using a similar font and line spacing to ours.
digg.com/

I wonder Chris if your issue with the type is more to do with the fact that we have opted for 80% black type (100% would give more contrast and therefore be easier to read - though I personally find it hard on the eye) and also that we don't as yet have text resizing options?

Very interested in others feedback on this - we would like to present the information on Joomlabear in a format that is most agreeable to everyone.
