Unable to display images in slideshow (polarbear) 4 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi guys,

I am still a complete noob and have done the tutorials on joomla.org. I have downloaded a slideshow module (and even paid for it), uploaded my photos via FTP and changed file extension and file path, but still nothing. Perhaps you could take a look at it and tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Site is www.may17oslo.com.

Thanks and best regards,

Hi Key,
Try publishing the left hand menu into position user1. It should pick up on the styles then.

It's hard to see what the problem could be with out knowing what slide show module you're using.
If you're going to pay for any slide show component I'd recommend slide show pro (SSP)
slideshowpro.net/
It's a little involved to set up but worth the bother. I think it's $50 US to buy the slide show, then you can pay an additional $50 US to get SSP director which plugs into Joomla as a component. From there it's really really easy to manage images.

Any way more about your slide show :) post back what the name of the module/component you're using

Hi guys,
Thanks for your replies.
I tried to change the Main menu position to user1, but nothing changed as far as I can see.

Now let's see if I remember the steps I took after installing Joomla:
1. I changed File and Directories Permissions to 666 and 777 respectively (recommended in Joomla tutorial)
2. I installed the template and removed the onLoad part in the body tag in the HTML as instructed in joomlabear forum (to keep the «error on page» message showing)
3. I unpublished parts I don't want and added new ones
4. I installed (and paid for) header module mod_header_image_v206.zip recommended in the joomlabear forum
5. Settings as in joomlabear.com/Tutorials/Joomla-Header-Image- Module-Setup.html (changed image folder to templates/polarbear/images/slides)
6. Uploaded images via FTP in folder templates/polarbear/images/slides and changed file extensions to .png

I think this was it.

I really appreciate your help :-)

Thanks again and best regards,

Hi Kirsti, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I don't know enough about the image module to know exactly what would have gone wrong. Do they have a forum or way of contact at the site where you brought the module?
The module is obviously published with the title still showing. It must just be the path to the images folder (or something similar).

P.S. is the main menu to the left published as a flat list?
