Overwriting images - BlackBear Chromatic 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi

I've been tweaking the BlackBear Chromatic template, to make it even blacker but I've found some bizarre results which editing the .png files and replacing them.

For example, I've added my own logo to head.png, made body.png and footer.png completely black. I wanted the sides of the site to be dark grey, so I changed cp_bg.png.

However there is a visible difference between the header section and the rest of the site - there are 2 shades of grey even though the same bg image is being used. Is this something to do with how I saved the PNG images?

You can see it at www.arcasmia.net

Any help appreciated!

Cheers
Mark

Please do check my thread in respect of CSS Horizontal Menu along with source data provided therein that may assist in resolving background issue.

;) what program did you edit the images with? It looks like the footer and header image have lost some of the drop shadowing? They may not have been rasterized prior to export... Old Big Bear will be in an hour, I'll ask him if he can re export them for you. I call him old because it was his Birthday yesterday :)

Hi Bambi

I think when you looked I'd changed it to a 1 column layout, so it set it back to a 3 column layout so you can see exactly what is going on.

I basically download head.png (to add my logo to the background), body.png (to make the background completely black, footer.png (to make completely black) and opened them into photoshop. I noticed as soon as I opened them up, there was no drop shadow - this is what confused me! So I changed what I wanted to, and overwrote the original files as png files again. The drop shadow wasn't essential and I can soon add it back in.

When I re-uploaded them, I noticed that the drop shadow still wasn't there (not sure if it was some crazy alpha setting that was creating the drop shadow) so I also altered menu.png so that at least they all had the same grey to the left and right sides.

Then I thought I could just alter cp_bg.png (to match the grey at the sides of all the other images I modified. But that image (cp_bg.png) shows a different grey next to the header, than next to the body!

Perhaps Old Big Bear can help, unless his birthday celebrations left like a bear with a sore head :o)

Just as a side note, I got some crazy thing going on when you click one of the menu links in the top-nav - none of the pages have any styling. Any ideas on that problem? (EDIT: I sorted this. I hadn't changed the .htaccess thing for URL rewriting)

Kind Regards, thanks for your help so far.

Sorry to bump this up, but I could do with an answer on this. I'm a premium member, should I email support instead?
