Joomla Templates

Have upgraded MySQL 4.0 to 5.0. Now what do I need to do to swap it over? I have not changed the database login details in Joomla admin or anything yet because I don't want to mess up. Can you please tell me what I need to do so that I don't lose any data?

Do you have your database backed up from the previous version?

no, not sure how to do this as it is new. Have never required to do this before

have you Consoles-Access in your hosting pack? Or you have a access with phpmyadmin?

You must create a backup from your old database, then create a new with the version 5 and inport your backup.

In your root-folder from your site, you must edit the configuration.php file. Please make a backup from the configuration.php before you change anything. ;-)

Edie the lines:

var $user = 'DATABASE USER';
var $db = 'DATABASE NAME';
var $password = 'DATABASE PASSWORT';

Thanks Germanbear. I do have phpmyadmin access. I think I understand your message so I'll give it a shot. Much to my dismay, my office package has stopped working...so much for computers.
