Hello,

can anyone help me, I am new to all of this so please bear with me.

Does anyone know how or if I can use a background picture so that the whole picture can be seen no matter what size the explorer window is? the background pics seem to tile or be too large to see.

This can be done but the solution is VERY advanced. The background image on this site is set to not tile, and fades into one colour.

You have to use Javascript to detect the size of the browser, which then sends a request to a dynamic PHP page which formats the image to the correct size so it doesn't get all pixelated. Then the javascript applies the newly created image to the background. You can just have a selection of 1-5 images and get the PHP to select the "best fitting" one rather than creating it.

Apart from that you could try running flash full screen behind the template with width and height set to 100%. And if the flash has vector graphics it'll look good no matter what size.

So sorry no easy answer. Fading an image to one color at the edges is the simplest solution. What image are you trying to display in the background?

I have purchased two pics from Istock and intend to buy at least two more.

The theme is red and blue to match my company name colours

It looks a bit messy at the moment as I have jumped from a site ground template to JoomlaBear, as I hope this template will give my site the look I am trying to achieve.

The site is looking good I reckon.
You could try publishing the main menu in position top-nav and I think you need to display it as a list. I prefer top horizontal navigation, but its up to you.
Then you could also try publishing Joomulus in either user9 or user5. If you look at any joomla template with the get variable ?tp=1 it'll show you the available module positions. commtechcooling.co.uk/joomla/?tp=1
You'd need to set the width and height to 720x90 for the top top position user9. And you'd have to give the x y stretch parameters to something like x=4 y=1. Try it in both module positions and pick the one you prefer. They should allow a little more room for the tags to display.

Also I don't know if you have a logo for your site, but you can replace this image commtechcooling.co.uk/joomla/templates/t...iss3/ images/logo.png with the one I'm attaching. You may have had something else planned I'm not sure, you don't have to use it :)

Many Thanks, I have changed the position of the menu, which is something I had been meaning to do.

I do have a logo, but may not look so good at the size i have managed to squeeze it to and make fit with out too many other alterations.

Thanks for the advice on widening the template, I also had some help from a friend of mine and we have managed to squeeze it in to the right column, hopefully this displays well elsewhere.

Apologies, I have been tied up with work the past week or so.

Your advice was just the ticket to get me moving forward, some things still to work out such as the background pic resizing, and I cannot take all the credit as I had help from Dodsin also.

Could you tell me if it is possible to have drop down boxs from the horizontal mene which show the sub menus please?

We are both stuck on this particular module
