We haven't checked our templates in virtuemart, they might need a bit of tweaking. There is one template I'm trying to put together for K2 support and I was thinking about including virtumart.

Its been a few years since I've played with virtuemart. It always needed a bit of work to get it going the way you wanted it. I've done a couple of Magento sites recently and that was quite a mission to set up but once running it does have a lot of functionality. Magento is dominating the open source and commercial eccommerce software at the moment. But it all depends on the scale you want to take it to.
