I am new to Joomla and have installed the BlackBearPro template and would like a horizontal navigation bar like the demo chromatic.joomlabear.com/ How do I do that?

Quick answer that may solve your issue, create a menu module in Extensions > Modules, assign it to position top-nav.

If you can link to your dev build I can assist with tweaking the styling.
