Joomla Templates

Hello all, I am pretty new to Joomla and just started using BlackBear 1.5 so my problem may be entirely my fault but so far I have no luck getting it to work.

My problem: I am trying to add a menu to the top horizontal with active highlighting and also trying to add the Ajax Header Rotator and neither one is working for me. I try to add anything to the top when I create the module but nothing ever shows up for me. I also try to add the menu to one of the user sections then get an error saying I'm not allowed to access that section. Is there a piece I'm missing during the setup or just the process?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, so I thought I would try something else and started working with the Transparent Bliss 2.0 and when I try to add the Ajax to user3 or 5 I get 'Direct Access to this location is not allowed'.

These were the only two locations that seemed to make sense to place Ajax...but maybe I'm wrong.
