Hoping someone can help here (posted in another thread but was not same subject). I have been unable on my own to modify the head.png file for the blackbear 1.5 template and get it to render correctly in IE7. No matter what I try I end up losing the dropshadow fade effect and I get a solid color all the way to the edge. It still works in Firefox though. I had to resort to sending all my stuff to Big Bear to get a logo that worked but I really need to be able to do this on my own. The fact that he's created png files that do work with IE7 means obviously it can be done, I just don't know what I'm doing :( I'm using Paintshop Pro X2 (don't have access to Photoshop at this time) if that will help get me pointed in the right direction. I've tried multiple google searches and can't seem to find anything related to this that is helping. Thanks for any help anyone can give, I've seen custom logos on some of the featured sites that work in IE7 (and at least one that didn't) so I know others have done it too.

Well it looks like I may need to go check some Paintshop forums, or it is possibly something to do with using a trial version of it. I just downloaded the windows version of the GIMP editor that Joomlabear has linked and I was able to succesfully put together a logo file with that and get it to render correctly. So some option in Paintshop is not being set right it seems. I just don't know what still

So after spending some time on a couple of Paintshop forums it seems like Paintshop is the issue. It seems to be unable to save png's correctly so that IE7 can read them properly afterwards. Looks like I'll be finding something else to use for making logos (good thing I was still using the trial).

check out inkscape... I use it extensively.

create logo / graphic and save main file as svg (inkscape) for future editing... and then export bitmap option - creates png files.

so far, no issues with diff browsers that i know of and it's free.

Oh wow I thought I updated this lol. So I ended up picking up a student copy (full features reduced academic price) of CS3 Web so now I have Photoshop and of course all works great :)
