IE template trouble. 3 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Using Transparency Bliss and having 3 specific probs with the ie images.

1) Personally I use firefox. I changed the width and transparency for that browser with no trouble. I also changed the left-mid-ie.png & right-mid-ie.png images for the ie browser and they look fine too but the left and right top png images are missing. I get a white square box where they should be.

Where are the top and bottom images for the ie browser? Are they supposed to use images for the firefox browser? Maybe I accidentally killed them. Puzzling.

2) I have to change the template-ie.css file so that the
Code:

width: 178px
is 170px.

This fixed that problem with the right column being far down the page underneath the middle colunm. However there is a line of code in the html or index.php file that says:
Code:

<a href="http://joomlatp.com/joomla-1.5- templates/"

title="joomla 1.5 templates"> joomla 1.5 templates</a></div>

that causes the same problem to happen all over again.

If I take out the "Joomla 1.5 templates" line so that the code looks like this:
Code:

<a href="http://joomlatp.com/joomla-1.5- templates/"
title="joomla 1.5 templates"></ a></div>

then the problem goes away. I wish I didn't have to do it because I want other people to use joomlabear templates but I will put it back when there is a solution.

3) The joomlaBear logo underneath the middle column looks nice except for the fact that it shows up like a missing image on my browser. You can also see the white outline where the bottom image of the middle column should be.

Can anyone advise on how to fix these 3 problems?

thanks

Ok. The some problems are fixed. The site I'm working on is not live. It's in a sub-folder of the domain. I noticed the images keep pointing to a non existent folder with blank gifs in them so I created a new folder in my site's main directory then uploaded the blank gifs to that folder and problems 1 &amp; 3 are solved.

Now if someone could only help me with problem #2...<br><br>Post edited by: rustyDusty, at: 2008/06/25 21:01

Thats not a JoomlaBear template link. Joomlatp.com are redistributing our templates claiming them as there own. just remove it. The link to our site is the little graphic at the bottom of the page. It's entirely optional.<br><br>Post edited by: Bambi, at: 2008/06/26 12:30

I realise that IE7 is out but IE6 still has that darn 3rd column issue!

It might be another 6 to 9 months before the majority of Windows users have fully migrated to IE7. Until then I need to make sure my site looks ok in IE6.

Is this going to be fixed in near future or do I need to start searching for another transparent template (slim pickens out there!)ASAP.

Let me know. I LOVE Transparent Bliss but not if the 3rd column is always underneath the middle column.

Frustrating.

Hi,

Thanks for your good comment. I allowed shoutbox only for registered user to avoid publicity...

Problem is existing on 1024*768 screen display with ie6 explorer. And problem is i know lot of people still using it, no easy to make them change when they do not know about computing.

Pictures available here :
http://www.passiondumonde.fr/esaip/ siteie6_medium.gif
http://www.passiondumonde.fr/esaip/ siteie6_2_medium.gif

Using ie7 or firefox, everything is ok.

Another question : is it easy to modify all black transparent picture to white transparent one ? I have to do it using witch software ?
Black background are difficult to read for old people.

Thanks

I think I found and fixed the problem.
In the file iepngfix.htc in the js folder there is this statement:

Code:

if (typeof blankImg == 'undefined')  { var blankImg = '/templates/ transparent_bliss_1.5/images/blank.gif'; }

I added a '.' before /templates and it works just fine.

Code:

if (typeof blankImg == 'undefined')  { var blankImg = './templates/ transparent_bliss_1.5/images/blank.gif'; }

Thanks!

I still have the problem where the 3rd column is down below the middle column in IE6.

Even after doing the fixes from above.

Anyone have another solution?

Rossie - I'm sorry your post seems to have been missed amidst all the others - are you still in need of help?
Your site looks fabulous BTW! Love the earth pic in background.

Smudley - Have you posted a link to your site? I couldn't see one?
Let me have a look at it and we'll see if we can sort it out.

Third column popping out is caused by second column overflowing due to some IE6 issues - You can see in our template demo there are no issues with IE6 but what I've found that certain content - such as fireboard forum, etc may overflow the central column by a few pixles and then this forces the right column down...

Much easier to troubleshoot if you can post a link.
