When you say "move the module positions" I assume you mean within Joomla - You can use the Joomla Admin Menu:
Modules > Site Modules to re-order the position of the modules you have published.
If you want to relocate the modules within the index.php you'll need to know some HTML, CSS and PHP...
Our free templates have a fairly simple structure - Polar Bear and Black Bear have a Left Column and a User2 Module for the masthead.
To remove the footer strip out the following code from index.php
