Thx Graydon,
However my small bit of help was something that really should have been documented by us earlier and is not worthy of a donation :) letalone a 2nd donation!
However that said we never actually even cover our monthly hosting bill via donations, most months will see 3-4 donations come in for around $5-10 and our hosting is $80p/m.
So if you or anyone else reading this is in the mood for giving to our worthy cause :silly: then perhaps consider our new home page icon ads - you'll get a link from our page rank 5 homepage getting your new site indexed by google in a matter of days! and boosting your backinks!
I should say on the hosting front we have a VPS which lets us configure things as we want them and that comes at a price. We could probably get away with hosting this site on something cheaper - BUT I am totally over cheap hosts with bad support, downtime and servers that are not configured to run Joomla properly... We'll never go back.
I have discovered
HostPapa recently though and I must say they are a very good option for cheaper cpanel hosting - makes most joomla stuff a snip as you can configure most things you want to through the cpanel interface.
I must warn you that I've pasted our affiliate link in above so if anyone does sign up via that link JoomlaBear will get a small kickback that will go straight into our site hosting fund at no cost to you - HostPapa pays the commission out of their margin.
If however this bothers you here is a non affiliate link
here.
I should also say that I would never recommend a host, or any service that matter, if I did not value it or deem it to be of a high quality. The only reason we have partnered up with
HostPapa is because they really do offer a good hosting service that works for Joomla sites.
Final note - if you plan on running a site like the new one we launched a few days back for our client
NinjaKiwi you won't get away with any of the cheaper shared hosts. These guys need a dedicated server to support the often 1000+ users at any given time... I'm pretty stoked with how well Joomla is handling it - let us know what you all think of the design :)
Phew! I was in the mood for a rant.
Over and out.
