install module 2007/09/07 18:38 Karma: 0
OK

Is there a trick to installing the module? All I seem to get is "installation failed"

I tried to FTP the unzipped file to the module directory but it doesn't show up in Module Manager.

Then I tried the tar and that reported no xml file.

Any thoughts?

Graham

PS i'm using black bear

here's a thought; can the developer make available a version of the template WITH the slideshow modules already included?

Hi Graham

Are you certain you are installing the correct version of Header Image? and also be sure to use the module installer - Header Image is not a component or mambot so you will get errors if you go Installers > Components for example.

Regarding the version of Header Image - you'll see at the download page there are quite a few versions:
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/header_image/frs/
We used the one at the very bottom of the list and it seems fine, even though it is classified as obsolete.

Note that in the Header Image packages at the top of the list there are versions for Joomla 1.5 - be sure to get the correct version for your Joomla installation.

I wish we could release a version of the template that included the module but Joomla templates and modules need to be installed seperately.

Hope this helps - let us know if you are still having trouble.

Hi

Ive unzipped then FTP'd this file:
mod_header_image-Joomla10_v210.zip

into the directory

/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_installer/ module/

I created a new directory called "header"

I then used
Installers
Modules and install from the header directory.

This produces the result:

Failed to create directory "/usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/keighleybluesclub.net/ httpdocs/modules/mod_header_image/libs

I'm new to all this so perhaps you can suggest something!

Hi

You don't need to FTP anything to the server. Just go to to Installers > Modules in your Joomla admin and browse for the zip or tar file you have downloaded to your PC - I usually save downloads to my desktop.

Then click upload and Joomla will tell you if it has succesfully installed. The rest of the steps are outlined in our Resources/Tutorials
