Login fields going haywire... 2007/09/12 15:00 Karma: 1
Hi there fellow webbers!

I have noticed that the input-fields for the login information sometimes kinda run out of control. I've added an image to show what I mean (just in case this is only my browser acting up) - taken from a website discussed here in the forum. I have however seen this effect on the joomlabear page too. What's going on?

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.6 currently under Windows. I haven't checked Firefox under Unix yet and I havent checked the Konqueror either. If this is an issue, I will do that though.

Regards
Chris

Hi Chris,

That is looking mighty strange!

May I ask what module you are publishing there? Looks like a newsletter module of some sort?

We have created a specific CSS style for form input fields in the left column and somehow the module you are using is overriding this. You should find the search and login modules do not behave in this way when published in the left column.

The fix will involve tracking down the CSS for the newsletter module.

Can you post a link to your site and I'll look at the source and let you know what needs to be added.

Kind regards

Lachlan

Hi Boss!

Sure I can give you an example. This isn't however my site, so please don't ask me about what's been done, since I haven't looked too closely (yet).

I got the particular screen shot from http://tunraz.com/

But I also get a similar effect when I log into the forum here or when I look at this page:
http://blackbear.joomlabear.com/index.php? option=com_registration&task=register

Not sure if this a really special problem or a broader one. I can add screen shots if you can't see the problem with your browser.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Very strange - thought that was your site - We have tested on Macintosh OSX Safari and Firefox, Windows IE 6 & 7 and Firefox and all works fine.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.6 on Windows personally, as you are, and not experiencing the same issue.

Would love to get to the bottom of this. Might have to think a little as I have nothing right now...

Many thanks for your help.

Hi everyone!

No problem! I will always help if I can and maybe if I have a problem one day, I might get some help from you guys.

Concerning this issue directly: Can you see what I am talking about? Does you browser display the some thing mine does or is it just my browser acting up?

Regards
Chris

My browser is fine - everything looks hunky dory. I'm on the same setup as you as far as I can work out - Latest FireFox and Windows XP Servicepack 2.

We have a Mac and a PC running IE 6 in the office for testing purposes - all are displaying correctly.

Would love to know what's causing this...
