Modifying Transparent Bliss Width or Transparency 2008/02/25 05:22 Karma: 17
Hi,

To modify the Transparent Bliss template width you really want to change the size of the background slices as well as the CSS. This involves creating new slices at your desired width.

I'm attaching Fireworks source files for this - you can also have some fun modifying the border color (or remove the border all together as we did in Transparent Bliss 2 for Joomla 1.5). You can also alter the level of transparency for a different effect or change the color of the slices...

You will probably need Fireworks to edit this properly - the slices are made up of a vector object and you'll want to grab the corners as shown in the attached image and pull them out (or in) rather than stretching the image which would cause the corners to skew.

You may have some luck if using the latest version of Photoshop but I'm not sure - still using Fireworks 8 here but Adobe has probably made Pshop more compatible with Fireworks files of late.

a further thought,

If you don't have Fireworks or Photoshop you can always use a free image editor such as GIMP http://www.gimp.org/

I'm not sure how GIMP deals with image slices but you could easily create them individually. You can see in the attached image below how the slice file looks in Fireworks - FW saves you some time by allowing you to put in the multiple slices which you can then export as seperate files. The green areas below are my defined slices.

It really is just a time saving tool because you could easily create three seperate graphic files in GIMP - make sure your corner radius is the same in each - and the transparency level - and save them out as 32bit PNG files (transparent.)

Finally you could head on over to Adobe and grab a free month trial of the latest Fireworks.
