Hey there!

I was just wonderung what software you used to create the title text "Black Bear" and "Polar Bear" on the live demos.

I know it's a little OT here but I have to make my own title and I wouldn't mind it looking that good too.

Hi Chris,

I don't think that's off topic at all

I personally use Fireworks most of the time - previously Macromedia, now owned by Adobe - It's simply a gradient applied to the font (radial gradient) and then I have duplicated the text to create a reflection, flipped it horizontally and applied a gradient mask to make it fade out.

You could of course use Photoshop and alot would - I have just found over the years I work faster in Fireworks, at least for screen (web) based graphics.

I'll write up a quick tute if thats not enough info and people are interested.

Post your interest here as I have a few tutorials to writeup and it's all a matter of priorities.

One last note, fonts were downloaded free! from http://www.dafont.com/

The best software to use in this situations, is Adobe Photoshop. Many ppl will tell u that it is hard to use, stuff like that but actually all u need is the soft which is like 50 euros or i don`t know something like that, there are thousands of tutorials on the web which explain in detail how to do a certain image. Just give it a try, it`s really good stuff to work with.

Hi there!

"Trying out" Photoshop involves spending quite a few bucks. Photoshop costs money and lots of it.

I do know Photoshop from a time way back (guess, I'm getting old... ) , when I worked for a local newspaper, but I wouldn't want to pay that kind of money for software that I only use personally. At least not if I don't see a real advantage for me in doing so.

Besides, I don't use Windows all that much when I am home. And because of that, I try to support open source software by using and testing it. I seem to be quite a bug finder as I am one of the really few people to use FreeBSD on a Sun.

So I use The GIMP as a replacement for Photoshop. I haven't used the software that the Big Bear did his magic with but IIRC those where for vector graphics and Photoshop isn't quite the replacement for those.

Chris
