Migrating my new JoomlaBear site 3 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
Hi gang! Ok, so i setup a new website for a local camera club using the Polarbear template. Love it...BTW! So, I'm wondering what I need to do to migrate this site, which was built in a subfolder on the webserver, to the main URL location. Currently the everything resides in a subfolder called "joomla" and now I want to have this new site take the place of the original site. How do I accomplish this if everything is pointing to that joomla folder. Can I just move the index.php file and that's it or do I need to make some changes elsewhere? I have no problem with leaving everything in the Joomla folder. I just want to be able to use the main URL for the index.php page and make the site appear to operate from the main URL and not the subfolder. Does this make any sense what I'm asking? Thanks in advance for the help. - Dave

Try Joomla Pack extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...k_id,1606/Itemid,35/
It should create a .zip folder of your existing site. Make sure you have a copy of the .sql (database) that'll hold all your configuration settings and content.

I've used it a few times and its worked great. If you have hard coded links in content or module items you may want to run a search and replace on the .sql file before reinstalling. Eg. if you've built your site on &quot;www.yourdomain.com/newsite&quot; you'll search &quot;www.yourdomain.com/newsite&quot; and replace all &quot;www.yourdomain.com&quot;<br><br>Post edited by: Bambi, at: 2008/06/30 00:48
