First: You all doing a great job with Joomulus! Thank you!!

Now my question:
Would it be possible to use Joomulus with some pre-defined keywords and (external) links???

For example:
In the Joomulus preferences you can add some static keywords and add an internal or external hyperlink for each keyword.
And maybe you can decide if you want use Joomulus in tag-based mode (like it is now), in static-keyword mode or in a mixed mode...

These keywords and the links would give you the possibility to link not only tagged content or search for tags, you could also use Joomulus to link whole categories or even interesting external pages...

Would be GREAT if you could built this function into one of your next versions

This is exactly the function i still miss in this really beautiful joomla addon. Joomulus is fantastic 3D animated tagcloud, but how to define the tags that are shown in the cloud is not so clear... espacially if you want to link external pages like jooody said. this would really revalue this addon.

Never thought about it, but to add static keywords to joomulus would be an intersting feature.... this would enlarge the functional range of joomulus and other tagclouds...
Is there already a further update of joomulus planned?

so I won't need to code it myself...it'll take me 3 times as longs as you guys

i would like to code it by myself, but i don't know how... Dont't yet understand how joomulus works...
so maybe we get some help of the joomulus team

basicly it gets the tags from another module I think
they use a code from another module to get the tags
split them into the right format
and then send them to the flash application via FLASHVARS
On my site I edited it, and not it shows a predefined list of links.
still wondering how to get it working with menus and other stuff, and not just tags

Hey there...

I wrote a new MOD for Joomulus, based on the work of Joomlabear and with the some help of Roy Tank, the maker of WP Cumulus...

In this new MOD you can do all the things that were discussed in this thread. These are the new feature:

• *NEW* Distribute tags evenly or randomly on the sphere


• *NEW* Scale the tag cloud to get a oval instead of a round tagcloud. Works and look great if you want to show the cloud in a kind of banner (see screenshot)


• *NEW* set a highlightcolor (if tag is selected)



• AND: you have 3 modes how to import your tags into the tagcloud
  
  
  1. - generate automatic tags of your content (like the original Joomulus)
  
  
  2. - *NEW* insert all Tags and Hyperlinks in one or more external XML-Files and adjust which one to use. Great for multiple TagClauds on different pages. You can find a very easy to edit XML-Template in module folder after installation
  
  
  3. - *NEW* define up to 20 tags and hyperlinks directly in the module-configuration in the admin area... very easy without any external configuration


• *NEW* in the XML and "self-define"-mode you can also edit the font-size of each tag


• *NEW* select your prefered font type: use sans serif font (Verdana) or serif font (Times New Roman). It's just a click away


• *NEW* if you use auto-generated tag and you need SEO friendly URLs, then you get it now! You can change between Joomla-default URL generation and SEO-friendly URL generation.

Great mod, however there are a few issues...

Firstly:
Like the origional module, when it auto-generates links like <a href='index.php?option=com_search&searchword=art&searchphrase=exact&ordering=newest'>

They fail in the google webcrawler... they need to be written like
<a href="/component/search/art.html?searchphrase=exact&amp;ordering=newest">

Secondly:
Now the self defindefined ones can fix this problem, however you cant turn the Auto-generated ones off - even though you tell the module to only use the self-defined ones, the auto-generated ones still show in the code generated on the website, so google will see the error.
also: you cant even turn off the auto-genereated ones by saying maximum number =0 - beacuse that cuses errors to show on your webpage.

Thirdly:
Still no opption to append a "module css class" like most other joomla modules...

It is a fantastic 'upgrade' though however - main thing is to fix those google web crawler errors!

Here's a new update:

If you choose XML-mode or self-defined-mode the auto-generated code will no longer be shown on the website.
If you don't use the auto-generated tags, just ignore the depending preferences... dont set the max number to 0. (not that much time to fix that now)

I added a module-class-suffix... Hope it works for you, cause i dont use this with Joomulus.

thats it Flom, you nailed it.

The code generated now is SEO friendly, (and exactly in the format of Zaragoza Clouds)

The auto generated stuff is not in the code if you pick the hard coded option...

The module suffix works great so we can add extra template styling


(only other bug is the tag word "the" comes up even if you exclude it, however, I just changed the minimum length to '4' and it fixes that problem)

ps: some suggestions are: Put a radio button to select between serif and sans-serif fonts (I guess you just make it load the different swf depending on what people choose)

and with the "seo friendly" output code, is it worth putting a chioice in for that depending on the preference of the user? that way, if there are further updates in the future, people can install and just choose what they want without editing the code...
