If you're trying to create some nice graphics for your website or making a few customizations to one of our templates you'll probably need a good image editor.
Photoshop is the industry stabdard as we all know and Fireworks is very useful for slicing and dicing images for template creation - the downside is they both cost money - and quite a lot too!
GIMP is a free open source image editor that holds up pretty well and I highly reccomend giving it a little test drive before you run of and spend that hard earned cash on software. You might find it does exactly what you need
