Joomla - Header Image Module Setup
(4 votes)

This is a quick guide to setting up Header Image Module for Joomla. We have used Header Image Module at the top of the BlackBear Theme to display the panoramic landscape images.

The version of Header Image Module used on BlackBear has now been superseded, we used version mod_header_image_v206.tar.gz which can be found at the very bottom of the list on the downloads page - it's classified as obsolete now. We had problems with version mod_header_image-Joomla10_v210.zip but I have had reports that the latest works fine (version 211).

You'll want to grab the Header Image Module and then install it via your Joomla admin console.

Login into Joomla admin and go to Installers > Modules, browse for the Header Image file you just downloaded and click "upload"

Now you'll need to visit Modules > Site Modules in your Joomla admin - find the Header Image module you just installed and click on it - this will bring up the Header Image Module Parameters.

First you'll need to choose "User 2" as the module position and also publish it - by default it is not published. You'll also want to set the dimensions for your images to 853 pixels wide - this is dictated by the template and is the exact width available in the masthead area - you can go smaller if you wish but your slide show won't reach the border of the template - going larger will likely break things.

I suggest you then look at the documentation for Header Image here: http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/header_image/
