Joomla - Removing the Article Filter |
|
This is just a very brief guide to removing the Article Filter and other items that come up by default when you create a new menu link to a List - Content Section.
When you create a menu link of this type it will show items from one or more Joomla Sections depending on your preferences. Because this can be a large number of content items Joomla's default parameters for this are to include an Article Filter so that the user can sort them easily. By default it will look something like this:
We thought this was a bit overkill for the currently small list of tutorials and resource links, so we turned the filter and some of the other features off.

In the future we will probably reinstate the Article Filter - I guess it's a pretty useful feature if you have 50+ articles.
So here's how you do it - Like all things Joomla it's really easy once you know where to access the parameters.
Simply go to the top menu named "Menu" and choose the appropriate menu from the dropdown.
I am editing the "Top Menu" for JoomlaBear because that is where I already have a menu item called "Resources" which is of the type: List - Content Section.
Once you are in the Menu Manager for your chosen menu click on the Menu Item you wish to edit. You will be taken to a page where you can edit the title of the menu item (what gets displayed on your website) and also a list of parameters on the right side of the screen.
From here it is pretty much common sense - you can turn features on and off. We have Section Title set to "show" as well as Section Description, Category List - Section and Table Headings. Everything else is hidden.
Hope this helps - below you will find a screen grab of our parameters to get the effect on this page:
